Have you ever seen a cute, fuzzy creature twirling around in the ocean waves and wondered “What’s that?” You probably spotted a sea otter! These mammals are especially important to California’s coastal ecosystems, and different groups of people have come together to recognize this during the annual Sea Otter Awareness Week [1]. This occurs during the final week of September each year and is designed to help us all learn more about the role these amazing animals play in their habitats [1, 2]! So check out the resources below to read about some cool sea otter facts! A huge thank you to Miss Angelika’s pre-kindergarten class for contributing artwork featuring sea otters.
