Butterflies need to land on a flower to consume its nectar, often preferring large or densely clustered flowers that can support their weight. Using their proboscis, they feed on the nectar. If you want to attract butterflies to your garden, it’s essential to plant flowers that provide nectar for adults and support caterpillar growth, thereby encouraging butterflies to lay their eggs. Female butterflies use sight, taste, and smell to identify suitable plants for egg-laying.
